尽管还是然而 - while

这两种意思都有，看具体情况。

一般表示尽管，虽然，然而，而。但是很多情况下也可以理解成并列，具体情况需要具体对待，比如有时也会经常翻译为“当……时候”。

while放在句首，翻译成尽管的用法示例如下：

1、while he is respected， he is not liked.

尽管他很受尊重，他并不招人喜欢。
