until now，用现在完成时，意思是直到现在 to now， so far迄今为止，都有这样的含义，所以都可以用现在完成式.比如说直到现在我已经学了3000个单词l now， I have learned three thousand l常用的句式是l直到什么什么才，Not until位于句首，引起主句部分倒装。
意思不同
虽然两者都有”迄今为止“的意思，但so far 有“就范围或者程度上来说”的意思，until now没有。
如：After all，the PBOC has so far succeeded in sterilising most of the increase in reserves.（毕竟，中国人民银行已经成功地冲销了外汇储备增长中的大部分。）
2、所用时态不同
so far要用现在完成时态，until now可以用在现在完成时，一般过去式和过去完成时。

你到目前为止发现了什么
until now:
1、现在完成时：
The problem has never really arisen until now.
这个问题直到现在才真正显露出来。
2、一般过去时：
I didn't know it until now.
今乃知之。
3、过去完成时：
Until now television had fought shy of covering by-elections.
迄今为止电视台一直竭力避免报道补缺选举。
until now 可以放在句首，多用于表达“迄今为止“。
